after four published rape cases in these past two weeks alone, a 100,000-signature petition (bottommost) and an anti-crime protest, the government finally decided to take major action.
"Four hundred more cops in the streets, RM6mil for
three new temporary district police headquarters and 200 more police
vehicles for patrolling – these are among the measures approved by the
Cabinet yesterday to clean up Johor Baru after the recent spate of
violent crimes there."

i’m sure we locals welcome the move but, is that enough? MP and opposition leader Lim Kit Siang has a point when he says:
"The announcement of 400 more cops in the streets in JB and new
temporary police stations had already been announced two days earlier
by the Health Minister, Datuk Chua Soi Lek.The people of JB and Malaysia had expected more concrete action from yesterday’s Cabinet meeting but none was forthcoming."
— 3rd urgent motion knocked out - no debate on crime…
i suppose we will find out in due time.
